A Short Look At How The Current State Of British Transport Systems Has Produced The Current Move Towards Preferring To Work From Home.
Most people would like to have the opportunity to Work From Home either for their current company or by becoming self-employed. Of course, there might be some practical barriers to this but these are reducing in number as modern work practices develop. Many more companies now promote themselves as an Internet Business or provide the ability to trade online. It is clear that online businesses could be able to offer some Online Jobs and this is likely to increase as technology progresses.
From the earliest times man has always had a requirement to work. For the prehistoric caveman this work was purely to do with avoiding death and involved predominantly creating a secure shelter and finding food for himself and his family. Essentially this was the earliest Work From Home situation as any journeys would probably be to find or build a new shelter, either in a better location or more adjacent to sources of food.
The arrival of the wheel began to change the world for ever. Unsurprisingly, many people would consider the wheel as the greatest invention in history due to the influence it has had on every aspect of human life. The facility to transport people and produce quickly has revolutionised the world throughout the years since the wheel was initially used around 3500BC. It is commonly accepted that industry flourished due to the advent of new means of transport that could move goods to larger areas of the country. Means of transport and the business sector have advanced side by side over the generations. The arrival and speedy development of the railways in the early 19th century and aircraft in the 20th century gave industry an enormous boost.
As companies matured and grew they needed more workers to meet the greater demand for their merchandise. By chance, the increase in the number of means of transport helped to resolve this potential problem as staff were able to travel longer distances to go to work due to the launch of public transport systems using trains, trams and buses and by using their own vehicles. In the last 50 years the growth in the level of car ownership also demonstrates how mobile staff have become. In 1961 less than one third of households owned a car but by 2009 this figure had risen to seventy five per cent.
The amount of people employed in the United Kingdom stood at twenty nine and a half million in the early part of 2010. Consequently, this newly mobile workforce is now encountering problems as it strives to travel to work every day. Too little investment by all recent governments and private companies has resulted in an ineffective public transport system in the United Kingdom with overloaded trains and underground services. Also, a congested road network needing a major overhaul, a list of anti-car measures such as the congestion charge in London and a number of increases in fuel duty have compelled many car-owners to re-evaluate the merit of owning or using their vehicles.
To escape from this travel nightmare, many workers would rather Work From Home and are wondering whether their jobs could become Online Jobs. It should not be difficult for any director of an Internet Business who is using modern technology to run their business to adapt that technology to permit some workers to carry out some, if not all, of their Work From Home.
