Practically everyone at some time or another will, when considering what New careers they can move into, have considered being in a band. For lots of people, it seems like a dream job – creating your own music, seeing the world, playing to audiences of loyal fans. Of course, it is rather difficult to start off a New career in a role like this – you need to be gifted, or you won’t make it anywhere. So if you’re looking for a change in Careers, or maybe if you have just speculated what it takes to make it as a band, or indeed as a singer, or a group, there are some collective rules that pertain to all of these choices, rules that will help determine whether or not you can make it to the top, or if you should keep looking for other Careers to move into.

First off – making it big in the music trade is extremely difficult – anyone will be able to tell you that. Even if you are extremely skilled, you must work extremely hard in order to succeed in this business. If you are wishing to make a New career out of it, you had better be geared up to give it your all. You will need to be always working, marketing yourself, getting yourself noticed. Even if you do get a break and make a name for yourself, you will still need to be forever on the go. Lots of people are under the impression that being in a famous band, or being a famous singer, means just going on stage sometimes performing concerts’, and then probably spending a few months creating an album – this is pretty far from the truth for most . Bands are typically away from home, touring the world on generally quite gruelling schedules, moving through different cities day by day. Also, actually making music, and making an album – it needs a lot of effort from yourself. You are usually under a lot of pressure to keep your fans happy, keep your record label happy, but more importantly, keep yourself happy. Sometimes bands and singers can find that they burn out after a long time of regularly touring and never being at home. Of course, this is a fantastically rewarding job if you can make it big, and you will be making big money – but you must put in the work, and of course, you must be good at what you do, whether its singing, playing the guitar or whatever.

So, if you’re hunting for New careers, and quite fancy yourself as a singer, or you and your friends want to make it big as a band – don’t just expect it to be easy going once you become famous. Getting noticed is hard enough, but then afterwards you must continually work to maintain your fan base. An incredibly diverse and thrilling career, but also hard work and very taxing.
