The Distractions I Endure When Working From Home, And How I Am Dealing With Them.

So, I had been looking at New careers and the Career choices open to me for quite some time now. I have been working in a call centre for the past two years, and I hate it. I don’t like the customers, I don’t like the people I work for, but most of all, I detest being trapped in the same place all day, every day, waiting for a call to come through. More often than not, I am not waiting for long at all. The reason I am here is because I haven’t ever really known what I wished to do with Careers and my life. Looking at New careers I could do never seemed to help much as I never seemed to notice anything that genuinely attracted me. However, I was sure that I did not care to spend the rest of my life going for Careers in a call centre, so something needed to be done. When I came across Career choices that allow you to work from home, I knew that would be the ideal thing for me. So I started, and then I discovered one.

So, to cut a long story short, I said goodbye to a lot of money, embarked on a big training course, completed the training course, and I am currently working from home. Well, sort of. I still need to go to that dreadful call centre to pay the bills, but I have begun some of the work from home. So I have been getting a taste of what self-control it takes to work from home.

Now I hate to laze in bed all day, but I am not an early morning person either. In fact, getting up for an 8am shift kills me. So the first thing I like about working from home – I start when I want to. What I have found so far that works for me is to get up around 8:30am and have some breakfast. Then, straight onto the work. I have noticed it really helps me if I just get straight on with some work. I can usually complete the majority of the work in one go in the morning. My main demon on my PC however is a game named Final Fantasy 11. I find it very difficult not to start it up when my PC is switched on. I will say to myself ‘I’ll just do this. I’ll just complete this,’ then suddenly two hours have flew by and I have not done any work. I have to tell myself not to boot the game up. It was startlingly hard at first. You need a lot of discipline not to start doing the things you like doing. So far I am coping, just. A a number of times though I have booted it up just to check something while I keep working, and then suddenly someone has invited me to go kill this monster or help with this mission, and that is it. No more work from me for any number of hours. However, I am bringing it under control. I just think to myself ‘do you hope to keep working in a call centre or what?’ and that is typically good enough motivation to switch back to work. That, I have found, is one of my best motives for working from home. I hope this helps if you are looking at Careers from home.
