The Reason I Selected A New Career In SEO
Numerous people have trouble discovering Careers that suit them. They’re not necessarily happy in a job and usually aren’t certain what they want to be doing when it comes to Career Choices. Admittedly finding New Careers is no simple task, not everyone can just jump straight into a great job with attractive wages to go with it. My story is no different, I was fed-up of work until I landed my place in search engine optimisation. I’m hopeful my Career Choices in SEO will last me for a good long time and would like to show my experiences for anybody looking for motivation.
My story starts inside a call centre working for a reasonably large and well established broadband supplier. I was on the technical assistance team, taking endless amounts of calls, dealing with the same boring issues with the same irritated customers, everyday. The job was OK to begin with, certainly not a main choice when it comes to New Careers, but it was adequate to get me by. The issue was, the management became more and more strict, targets were heightened to ridiculous levels and we were eventually made to use a scripted program to help customers, which was even more frustrating because you knew without it, you’d be more efficient on calls. It wasn’t until I ultimately lost my position here that I was able to progress to greater things.
It’s odd really how the majority of us won’t act to find New Careers until our current one is in danger. If I had of searched sooner, I would have been out of that dreadful call centre, it was just laziness really and there was no justification for it. Needless to say, once I was out of the job, I was in a tight spot financially and so was hunting for Careers frantically. It wasn’t until my savings had just about ran out that I came across what seemed like a dream come true. I had found a job in SEO, which is basically improving websites for businesses so that they come out on page one of Google. What made this so appealing was, it was working from home, and had a OTE of more than two times what I was on in the call centre.
As you can imagine, at this stage I was a bit worried, was I really going to be able to make such a big jump in my Careers? Many people would be working their way up to such a salary. Luckily, it turned out such a step was feasible, as the job was actually self employed, but working under the name of the franchise. Salary and working hours were my own to manage, I couldn’t believe it, it was such a great chance. The only downside was the initial training costs, I usually would have passed on such things, but this was too perfect to pass on, so I scraped together what I could to afford it.
If you too are miserable at work, or realise you can do better, why put it off? Don’t hold on until what happened to me comes about. There are countless Careers to pick from out there, put the effort in and make a change. My new career is off to a promising start and the best thing is, I can do the work when I want to.
